GUATEMALA November 2009
Our team to Guatemala in 2009 consisted of 7 from Kindersley Christian Fellowship: Dr. Dana and Marge Bailey, Lifetime Dental receptionist Pam Bevill (who learned to clean and sterilize instruments), one Certified Dental Assistant, Carlissa Dunn, Lee Nobbs, (a young adult interested in medical training who worked with the Fe Viva doctor in the medical clinic when possible), and two youth, Michael Neufeld and Tamera Bevill (who spent the days with the youth who were painting in the children's home and doing odd jobs). 4 other team members came from Regina: Dr Ed Reed and his wife, Lorrie (who is a nurse), his dental assistant Faye and his receptionist Sheri.
After getting our dental clinic set up, we were able to service all the Casa Esperanza children's home kids (37) plus Fe Viva Mission base staff (33), including cooks and guards, and then move to the sponsor families (poor people from the surrounding area that are aided by the Fe Viva mission base).
This was our fourth dental mission and we have seen the dental and physical health of the people that live at the Fe Viva base improve drastically. Therefore much of the dental care for them this time was more like we do here in Canada -- recall and some fillings. The wife of the director of the children's home, Casa Esparanza, was a dental assistant in Canada and has been there for 4 years now so we see the impact of having someone like her to regulate the children's diet and teach oral hygiene care, etc. The sponsor families are a different story! They are mostly emergency work, abscesses, extractions, etc and need much more training in general health practices as well as overall living assistance. In the dental clinic (located at Fe Viva Mission Base near Chiquimulilla,Guatemala) the equipment is beginning to be more consistent -- we even had some high speed suction this time! Every time we go we improve the quality of the clinic and have many more instruments and supplies provided to use while we are there.
In the evenings, the team attended church services and House of Refuge meetings as well as touring Chiquimulilla.
Many thanks to all who donated instruments, supplies, finances and so much more for this trip! The people are so appreciative of our team and the work they receive. Like Dr. Ed Reed said, "I have never felt so appreciated for what I do and the service I provide!"

Baruch haShem, Bless the Lord!
Six people from Kindersley Christian Fellowship travelled to Israel in October, 2009 with Return Ministries: Pastor Marge Bailey, Jack Olson, Tammy Palmer, Debbie Reid, Jackie Wagner, Carol Gerle. Teaching on this tour was provided by our Apostles, Femi and Remi Ogunrinde and Director of Return Ministries, Dean Bye. Our tour began at Tel Aviv with a beautiful Shabbot meal and celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles under a sukkah. A stroll down the boardwalk along the Mediterranean Sea brought us into direct contact with two of God's people -- Absalom and Shoshana. They eagerly shared their stories of coming to Tel Aviv when it was only sand and tents. These divine appointments with the people of the land were highlights for us as we knew only the Lord could have had us at the right place at the right time to meet and bless one another. Another delight was to navigate the Sea of Galilee on Daniel Carmel's tour boat! Daniel showed us how to cast a net (the way Peter would have done) as well as led praise and worship as we danced and sang. Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, was hot and dry. We could understand that these were the perfect conditions for preserving the scrolls! One of our team was baptized at the Jordan River as a group of young Israeli children, their parents and teachers watched. God knit our hearts to this group that day! The Lord often put Israeli soldiers in our pathway as we toured Jerusalem. We thanked them for protecting Israel, blessed them and sang for them. What a priviledge it was to be part of what God is doing in Israel!

NORTHERN SK MISSION - BIG RIVER
Sixteen congregational members from Kindersley Christian Fellowship spent a week in the Big River First Nations Reserve (located 15 km north of Debden), July 24-29, 2006, re-shingling the existing church roof and building a 24 X 24 ft addition on a concrete foundation for the Big River First Nations Pentecostal Church. Jim and Shelley Christian from Christ the Answer International Ministries (CTAIM) organized the project. The project was originally to be at Big Island, Saskatchewan (near Cold Lake, Alberta) but was diverted to Big River a few days before. The timing itself was an answer to prayer. Pastors Marvin and Delorois Netmaker from the Big River congregation had been praying for some time regarding an addition to their church. The addition will house a small kitchen, classroom and two washrooms. It was great to see men, women, and young people working together on the project and building relationships as the work was being completed! In the afternoons, vacation bible school was offered to the children and camp meetings were held in the evening. It was an opportunity to serve Jesus right here in our local area and to learn about the culture, reserve life, and some of the issues First Nations people face!
On September 15-17, 2006 a group of four Kindersley Christian Fellowship members returned to Big River to help insulate, vapour barrier and gyproc the inside of the addition as well as construct the washroom area.
GUATEMALA Dental Mission - February 2008
Dental tools were whirring as local dentist and KCF Pastor Dr. Dana Bailey and dental therapist Susan Seidel dug into the mouths of those less fortunate in poverty-stricken Guatemala in February of 2008. The team of ten volunteers from Kindersley brought dental supplies and equipment, medicine and vitamins as well as some clothing, donated by local residents and businesses and other dental offices across the province. While the dental team set up the dental clinic, others completed electrical work, painted cabinets, and worked with the children at the orphanage. The goal was to establish a permanent dental clinic on the Fe Viva Compound to provide dental services in this remote area near Chiquimulillia. The University of British Columbia College of Dentistry donated the dental chairs and dental light. Cash donations were received from local churches and donations of dental instruments and supplies came from dentists across Saskatchewan. With the commitment of Lifetime Dental, two dental units are now operational and ready to serve the community. With the commitment of the congregation at Kindersley Christian Fellowship, teams will continue to travel to Guatemala to not only service this clinic but provide labor and supplies for the ongoing building projects at Fe Viva and ministry to the poor of the region.
